| Rolling Stones Magazine's Top
500 Songs of All Time

Rolling Stone Magazine released a list of "500 Greatest Songs of All
Time" in November 2004. It represents an eclectic mix of music spanning
the past 50 years, and contains a wide variety of artists sharing the
spotlight, including Bobby Darin, Madonna, Patsy Cline and OutKast.
The Rolling Stone 500 was compiled by 172 voters comprised of rock
artists and well-known rock music experts, who submitted ranked lists of
their favorite 50 rock&roll/pop music songs. The songs were then tallied
to create the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
Topping the list is Bob Dylan’s Like A Rolling Stone. The rest of the
top ten is made-up of other legendary and influential rock icons and
bands. The Rolling Stones grab the #2 position, followed by John Lennon,
Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, the Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, the Beatles,
Nirvana, and Ray Charles.
List favorites include the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan,
who appear a combined total of 49 times, making-up almost 10% of the
list.
