Snoop Helps Bow Wow Get His Start
Bow Wow's been rhymin' since he was five years old. Bow Wow's big break came when he jumped up on stage and started rapping in between acts on the Chronic Tour rap concert when he was only six. Lucky for Bow Wow, the top dizzowg himself, Snoop Dogg was really impressed and gave him the nickname Lil Bow Wow. Now that Bow Wow's growing up, he's dropped the "Lil" to prove that he can role the big dogs.
Bow Wow Barks Up the Right Tree
By the time the lil' rapper was 13 he had worked on the soundtracks for Wild Wild West and Big Momma's House. In 2000 Lil Bow Wow released his first CD called Beware of Dog, which included the hits Bow Wow (That's My Name) and Bounce With Me. The cool thing about Lil Bow Wow is that he doesn't sing profanity-filled lyrics like so many other rap acts do. Another reason to look up to Bow Wow is that he gets good grades in school - even with his crazy schedule. Aside from his own stuff Bow Wow's also been featured on songs by Snoop, Will Smith and joined other artists on Destiny's Child's Jumpin' Jumpin' remix. Bow Wow starred in the movie Like Mike in 2002 and his third album Unleashed hit record stores in August 2003.
Though he has since dropped the age restrictive "Lil'" for the more mature Bow Wow, this rapper-turned-actor stands tall on both stage and screen no matter what moniker he assumes. Born Shad Gregory Moss in Columbus, OH, Lil' Bow Wow dropped his first rhymes at the tender age of three, and after hooking up with producer Jermaine Dupri, the young rapper released his debut album, Beware of Dog, in 2000. The following year, he brought his vocal talents to the small screen in Carmen: A Hip Hopera. After releasing his 2001 sophomore album, Doggy Bag, Lil' Bow Wow made his feature debut in the action comedy All About the Benjamins. Leading-man status followed with a starring role as an orphan who discovers a pair of magical basketball shoes in Like Mike (2002), showing that the pint-sized rapper's skills in front of the camera rivaled those behind the microphone. Following the release of his third album, Unleashed (2003), he returned to the screen in 2004 under the name Bow Wow for the comedy Johnson Family Vacation before preparing for his next comedy, Mr. Prez. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
