Born on September 28, 1987 in America, Hilary Duff is an actress and a pop singer. She hit the limelight through the television show Lizzie McGuire. Since then she has made major strides into her film career, donning roles in mainstream pictures like Cheaper by the Dozen and independent films like Material Girls. Duff has also made his successful journey into the musical world with two #1 albums on the Billboard 200 and numerous other world-hit singles. She is often said to have the potential to rival or surpass the fame of Britney Spears.
Like most overnight successes, Duff had a few struggling years before she could get any big break. Appearances in Hallmark Entertainment's western miniseries True Women (1997), in Casper as the friendly ghost's human friend Wendy (1998), and as a supporting actress in The Soul Collector (1999) gave her some of the most significant roles for acting. Lizzie McGuire, which featured the ups and downs in the life of a junior high schooler Lizzie, was a big hit with preadolescent groups.
The success of Lizzie McGuire is attributed to Duff herself for perfectly fitting into that role. Like the character, Duff was smart, pretty and funny. While Lizzie was reining success, Duff also acted in the indie film Human Nature, which testified to her irresistible big-screen passion. Lizzie McGuire mania prevailed through 2002 and it was around this time that Duff made her entry into the world of music. The initial work included the song such as "Santa Claus Lane," and her own Christmas album, also known by the same name.
That year, the production of Lizzie McGuire ended and Duff was free to look out for other opportunities. Even when the Lizzie Episodes continued to show through 2003, Duff began appearing in the teen spy movie, Agent Cody Banks. Once more she played Lizzie for the last time in The Lizzie McGuire Movie. The movie’s soundtrack also had Duff’s several songs, which went platinum in the summer of 2003. Around that period, Metamorphosis, was released. It was Duff's genuine creative piece and it helped her outgrow the Lizzie McGuire image.
In 2003 Duff continued to be a dominant public figure with her appearances at MTV Video Music Awards. At that time, she accepted Lizzie McGuire's trophy for Favorite TV Show at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. She also took a role in that year's film, Cheaper By the Dozen. During 2004, Duff was busily engaged in his vocations. She appeared in movies like A Cinderella Story, Raise Your Voice and Agent Cody Banks 2. With the help of Ashlee Simpson and Avril Lavigne, she also released her self-titled second album in the line of anthemic rock-pop genre on September 28th, the day being her 17th, birthday. It gradually came #2 on both the Billboard 200 and the Top Internet Albums chart.
In June 2005, ‘The Perfect Man’ debuted featuring Heather Locklear as Duff's unlucky-in-love mother. August saw the release of Most Wanted, which included three new songs. The single "Wake Up", penned by Benji and Joel Madden penned by Good Charlotte - as well as remixed versions of past Hilary hits like "So Yesterday" and "Come Clean" were included in the track list. Hilary Duff’s the Most Wanted tour, though stretched into September, ended just in time for her 18th birthday.
