Kurt Cobain was quite popular in his time. He played and sung for a band named Nirvana; Nirvana was popular in the late 1980s and the early 1990s. During his popularity he married pregnant singer Courtney Love. While he was very successful he did not enjoy being famous. Since as a child his parents divorced and ruined his already rough life mentally and emotionally. Even though he had such a hard life fans have learned tales of his childhood, enjoyed his success, and have been entertained by his music.
Kurt was born in Hoquiam, a small town near Seattle. The year was 1967 on the 20th of February. His mother was a cocktail waitress and his father worked on cars. While later moving to Aberdeen. Aberdeen had a reputation of being a “depressed and dieing logging town.” During the majority of his child hood he had horrible bronchitis. To make it all the more worst for him his parents divorced when he was only seven years. Afterwards Kurt publicly announced that he’d never felt loved or secure again. After the divorce of Kurt’s parents he had become anti-social and seemingly far-off. In high school Kurt was a trouble maker, he got beatings from jocks for his “bad” attitude. In 1985 Kurt left Aberdeen since it was now “dead” and moved onto Olympia.
Cobain’s band Nirvana became popular but he wasn’t able to handle the rock star life. A direct quote from Kurt says, "If there was a rock star 101 course, I'd really have like to take it." Cobain began using heroin in the early 1990s, using it to “shield against the rigorous demands of touring and to stop the pain of stomach ulcers or an irritated bowel.” In 1992 Kurt left to Hawaii so he could marry pregnant Courtney Love. During the same year Kurt was sent for a hospital treatment because of drug abuse. Soon after, Frances Beans (Courtney’s and Kurt’s child) was born. Some time in 1995 Kurt was spotted in Seattle in possession of a shotgun. On April 5th, a few days after the spotting in Seattle, Kurt Cobain had locked himself inside of his mansion and pointed the shotgun to his mouth and pulled the trigger, there is controversy on his death although. He was discovered by an electrician installing a security system in his house. The loss of Kurt devastated all of his fans, many following his actions.
Starting out with cover songs he did with a small number bands Kurt became more popular, soon after he met Chris Novoselic and they started playing solo together. In 1986 they started a band called Nirvana; they never had a permanent drummer until they found Dave Grohl. Kurt Cobain was the vocalist and lead guitar in the band, followed by Dave Grohl at drums and Chris Novoselic at bass. The style of music played by this trio was called “grunge.” Furthermore, the writing of Kurt’s music wasn’t too popular, since it came from the darkest parts of his life; however, the most popular songs are the songs about happy times or songs that send out positive messages. While Kurt wrote his songs for the good of mankind, he found that the music was interpreted wrong and attracted the wrong fans. The fans he felt he was attracting were the ones he thought would “beat him up.”
Kurt Cobain’s troubled background was essential for his fame. Although he did not live a great life, he will live on in his fans hearts forever. He was criticized but he pulled through, he got married, and had a kid. Even though his life was cut short he had lived his to the fullest and did the best he could, but drugs took the worst of him. Kurt was brave, since continuing on to become successful after his rough childhood. In addition he also became famous and world renown, and at the same time fans greatly rejoiced in his music. It’s better to burn out, then fade away.
